Is depression hereditary?
Mon Dec 27, 2010 4:51 pm by banneratoe
My mother suffered from depression for most of her adult life. She started to become depressed in my early twenties, and I am approaching that age. Is depression hereditary, and what are the chances I will develop clinical depression later in life?

Therapy or medication for depression?
Mon Dec 27, 2010 4:49 pm by banneratoe
It really seems like Doctors these days just want to prescribe medications to fix problems like depression. I personally think that therapy would be a better option to get past depression. What method of treatment has been found to have the most beneficial effects on a patient suffering from depression?

Mon Dec 27, 2010 4:44 pm by banneratoe
When my parents passed away I fell into a deep state of depression. I was placed on anti-depression medications, and they improved my condition. This was 2 years ago,and I am still on this medication. Is there a chance I am misdiagnosed with depression and I can now take myself off these medications?

It's normal
Wed Sep 29, 2010 8:42 am by BellaVega
Many people who are battling depression seem to think that it's normal. They think that everyone feels down every once in a while and it's nothing to be alarmed about. While it is normal to feel a little depressed or down every once in a while, it's not normal to feel down and depressed for days and weeks at a time. Depression is not normal and it can be beaten.

We all face negatives and stress in our lives. But while many dwell on the negatives and stress and further their decline into depression, others run from it. It's kind of like fight or flight. Run towards the positives and walk …

Talking isn't easy

Talking to your doctor about depression isn't easy. But it's important. In fact, it's probably the most important step you can take to overcoming and defeating depression. It took me 8 years to finally open up to my doctor, but once I did my life changed around quickly for the better. I am thankful every day that I told my doctor how I felt.
