My mother suffered from depression for most of her adult life. She started to become depressed in my early twenties, and I am approaching that age. Is depression hereditary, and what are the chances I will develop clinical depression later in life?

Talking to your doctor about depression isn't easy. But it's important. In fact, it's probably the most important step you can take to overcoming and defeating depression. It took me 8 years to finally open up to my doctor, but once I did my life changed around quickly for the better. I am thankful every day that I told my doctor how I felt.
